I'm sure there are many screen capture programs out there, but I was only interested in the one Rich was raving about. Just go to alt.binaries.misc and look for ATTN: JoAnn - Screen Captures and download the JoAnn.zip file. Inside you'll find three files: PSP Screen Capture.psp PSP Screen Capture.jpg HyperSnap Screen Capture.jpg PSP Screen Capture.psp is a pure PSP screen capture saved as a *.psp file. PSP Screen Capture.jpg is that same file saved as a *.jpg in PSP. HyperSnap Screen Capture.jpg is a screen capture of the exact same screen taken at the exact same time by HyperSnap (you can tell because the shareware puts a stamp on each image until it's registered). Compare these files for yourself. It's not hard to see who's the winner... Interesting, but geez...that file size (the HS capture) is totally unacceptable. Yes, I agree...the quality is excellent, but the whole point of using .jpg's is to get smaller files, not bigger ones. I downloaded the demo of HyperSnap but haven't installed it yet. Are there options to reduce file size, or increase compression...anything to get those files sizes under control? Maybe I'll have time to play around with it a bit tomorrow. Jo

Jo If I wanted to use the image on a website, perhaps the size would be unacceptable. But my original question that started this thread was how to make a JPG screenshot where the text wasn't blurred, like the ones posted at Skinz.org et al. When I finish it, I plan to upload my LiteStep theme to some theme sites, and I want people to see as nearly as possible what it will look like. Color and clarity are what's important in this case, not size. As I told you in a previous post, I found the email address of someone who posted a screenshot of their theme at Skinz.org that had clear text, and asked them how they did it. Since theme creators tend to use PSP almost exclusively, I assumed they also used it for the screen shot. Not so, this person emailed me back

As far as reducing the file size goes, you can do that with Hypersnap. But you may as well stick with PSP if you do, because the result is going to be the same: blurry text. So to be clear, the issue as stated by me from the very beginning has been how to create a screenshot in JPG format where the text is not blurred, as is the case with the screenshots I see on the themes sites. So far the answer has been that this is not possible in PSP. If someone can tell me how to achieve the same result
